New Adventures with Buggles and Beezy (Classroom/Network)- Installation Instructions (Windows)

Before you begin:
  • There are two stages to the installation. First you will perform the server installation, then you will need to perform the client (workstation) installation.

  • Both the server installation and client installation should be done from a workstation.

  • If you have more than one grade level, all grades should be installed to the same network location.

  • The New Adventures with Buggles and Beezy program’s network version has been re-classified as a classroom version. The program is intended for a maximum of 10 simultaneous users. Because of this, we recommended installing it on a peer-to-peer network in a classroom and not on a school’s Local Area Network (LAN).  If the program is installed on a school’s LAN, it is extremely important that no attempt be made to run it with more than 10 simultaneous users across the entire LAN.

Server Installation:
  1. On the workstation, map the network drive if needed. Workstations must have read and write access to the server location where the program is being installed.

  2. Insert the New Adventures with Buggles and Beezy Network installation CD. If installation doesn’t start automatically, browse to the CD drive and click on either the K1ServerSetup.exe file or 23ServerSetup.exe file, depending on the grade level of the CD.

  3. When the Network Installer screen appears, click Next.

  4. Select an installation path. The default path is C:\Program Files\MMHBuggles. Click Browse and select network drive you mapped in Step 1 to navigate to the location on the server where you want to install the server program files.

  5. Click Next.

  6. When the Installation is Complete screen appears, click anywhere on the screen to close the installation window.

  7. All program files are now installed to the MMHBuggles directory on the server. The workstations will install from this location.

  8. If you have more grades to install, insert the next New Adventures with Buggles and Beezy Network installation CD and repeat Steps 2-7 above.

  9. Once server installation is complete, proceed to the workstation installation steps listed below.

Client (workstation) installation:
  1. On the first workstation, map the server’s MMHBuggles shared directory.

  2. Using the mapped drive, browse to the MMHBuggles folder on the network and double-click the PC workstation installer.exe file.

  3. If more than one grade level was installed to the same server location, you will be prompted to choose the grade level to install. Choose either K-1 or 2-3.

  4. When the Workstation Installer screen appears, either click Next to accept the default workstation installation location (C:\Program Files\MMHBuggles), or browse to a different location before clicking Next.

  5. When the Installation is Complete screen appears, click anywhere on the screen to proceed. If you have other grade levels to install, repeat Steps 2-4 to complete the installation for each additional grade level.

  6. Once all grade levels have been installed, restart the computer.

  7. Repeat Steps 1-6 on each additional workstation.

  8.  Prior to running the student application, run the Teacher Utilities application to add teachers, classes, and students into the system.
